“Who are you going to be when you grow up?” Bishop Oliveto recently posed this question at a leadership workshop in late January encouraging the attendees to take a deep breath and move into the future with courage to try some new ideas. Are you ready to move into new possibilities? Are you willing to take a chance? Are you willing to be “the hands and feet of Christ” in our community?

We all have our own unique set of skills and spiritual gifts – some we think we know about and some we might never have considered. If we can find a way to match our gifts with a need in the church and greater Montrose community, we can experience a renewed sense of connection and fulfillment and will truly be energizing our spiritual journey.

We want to focus on ways to expand our spiritual horizons here at MUMC and beyond. We want you to be a part of this journey into the future. But first we want you to give some thought to what energizes you. What wakes up your enthusiasm? What kind of mission will motivate you to get up out of your favorite chair and participate with a renewed sense of energy? Some of us thrive in large groups, some in smaller teams and yet others prefer one on one connections. Do you know where you are most comfortable?

As we go through Lent, we hope you will take some prayer time to consider how you might see new ways to connect both within the church community and beyond.
Some other questions to ponder:
• Are you comfortable meeting a stranger?
• Are you spontaneous?
• Are you detailed oriented or a big picture personality? Planner?
• Are you a good listener?
• Do you like making connections?
• Are you comfortable asking for help with a project? Service? Mission?
